Nightingale wake-up call

This chap has been singing outside my bedroom window pretty much non-stop for the last 36-hours. Here he is at 3am this morning (recorded from my bedroom with my phone):



With calmer winds and warmer temperatures, ringing at the lighthouse garden was more productive than it has been over the last few days with 19 birds of 10 species (totals online — click Ringing).

Garden Warbler

This afternoon, I cycled up to the harbour road pools to do the weekly count. All the usual stuff was present, including quite a few Avocet chicks; also a Marsh Harrier, some Little Terns, two Sandwich Terns, two Shoveler, and five Common Eider.
